| Take a language course in one or even both of the two most popular towns in Russia | | San Petersburgog | ‚Pieter‘ as the inhabitants fondly call St. Petersburg, looks back at a short but moving history, which resulted in the enlisting of the old town into the UNESCO world heritage list.
A little more than 300 years ago, the area of nowadays St. Petersburg was a swamp area along the river bed of the ’Neva’ which is still dividing the city today. With over 800 Bridges, the water is still present and gave the city its reputation as the Venice of the north.
Today more than 4.6 Million inhabitants live in greater St. Petersburg granting it the status of the northernmost metropolis of the world. The city is the cultural capital of Russia and hosts one of the biggest museums in the world ‘The Hermitage’ (which holds the largest collection of paintings in the world). Further famous sites are the first stone building of the city the ‘Peter and Paul Fortress’ and the grand palace ‘Peterhof’ which was influenced by ‘Versailles’.
An event, wich is worth a special mention are the White Nights. "The White Nights are a time of celebration in areas such as Saint Petersburg, Russia. Owing to the high northern latitude at 60 degrees, the Sun does not set until after 10 p.m., and the twilight lasts much longer." Source | | | Moscova | As the capital of Russia, Moscow is the biggest and most vibrant city in Russia and as such also the biggest city of the European continent with 10 Million inhabitants and 14 Million in the urban agglomeration. With a history dating back to 1147 as a city, there is a lot to see and explore in Moscow today. Famous landmarks such as the Kremlin and the Red Square, which are both listed as a UNESCO World heritage list, are amongst the most popular sites, next to the Saint Basil’s Cathedral or the Ostankino Tower (the tallest free-standing structure in Eurasia). You can take a break in one of the many (114) parks and gardens or recuperate in over 600 churches in and around Moscow after a long night partying in one of the many clubs and bars in town. |

Group Courses
| General Informationen | Courses at all levels are run year round with dates, programs and prices identical for Moscow and St. Petersburg. Both destinations can be freely combined under the condition that starting dates for group courses are met. The quality of our the courses is controlled by a clear course syllabus, frequent host family checks, detailed entry and exit questionnaires, clear complaint and backup procedures. All courses are based on communicative approaches and combine learning common expressions used in everyday situations with a thorough and systematic grammatical approach. This is of vital importance for learning a language like Russian, which has an inflectional system and a non-fixed word order – a language in which word endings or word's place create the meaning. | We suggest that you familiarize yourself with the Cyrillic alphabet before departure. Visa
Please be aware that visa applications are necessary for almost all foreigners. Our partner school provides invitation letters for a tourist visa for all students studying up to 4 weeks. A torusit visa is only valid for a single entry and a maximum stay of 30 days. For students wishing to stay longer than 4 weeks a student visa needs to be issued. In this case there is a difference between proprietors of a passport from ‘Schengen’ countries and others. None ‘Schengen’ passport holders will get an invitation letter issued by the Russian Ministry of Interior Affairs. This procedure takes at least one month. For all 'Shgengen' passport holders, our partner school is alleged to issue an invitation letter, which allows issuing of the visa at short notice. |
