Location

Beautiful San Diego, California is the home of our partner school. Students from all over the world come to enjoy the many wonderful beaches, restaurants and shops while learning or improving their English. With our prime location right in downtown, excellent program, and friendly teachers, there is no better place to experience the American way of life and learn English.

San Diego is a large, attractive city, situated 180 km south of Los Angeles and 10 miles north of Mexico. There are over 33 beaches up and down the San Diego coast, from Encinitas to the island of Coronado. San Diego also provides the opportunity to play golf at 78 different golf courses or tennis at numerous public or private facilities. At Mission Bay you can take part in every imaginable type of water sports.  

Centre Ville San Diego If you want to explore beyond San Diego, you can go to Los Angeles, Hollywood, Disneyland, Universal Studios, Magic Mountain, and Palm Springs. Students who want to visit Mexico may take a trolley directly to the border. The cultural heart of San Diego is Balboa Park, which includes the world-famous San Diego Zoo ; the San Diego Museum of Art ; the Old Globe Theatre, a reproduction of Shakespeare's theatre in London ; the Automotive and Aerospace Museum ; the Natural History Museum ; and the Hall of Champions (a museum of sport history). Attractions apart from Balboa Park include Sea World ; the La Jolla Museum of Contemporary Art ; the Civic Theatre, home of the San Diego Symphony Orchestra and San Diego Opera ; and Qualcomm Stadium, where San Diego’s major league football and baseball teams compete. The school was established in San Diego in 1981 and is registered with the State of California.  For more than two decades, our partner school has dedicated itself to providing high-quality English language programs in a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. 
The English courses are designed especially for international students.  We understand your needs, and we work with you to help you achieve your goals.  We believe that your success is a reflection of our efforts.  That is why we are committed personally and professionally to making sure that you are satisfied with the quality of education you receive.

The school is located near Broadway Avenue in the heart of beautiful Downtown San Diego within walking distance of shopping centers, restaurants, nightclubs, and transportation stops. A short drive will bring you to harbor areas, beaches, and major San Diego attractions. It is also authorized to issue the I-20 to students entering the United States on a STUDENT VISA.

The students are the center of attention. The friendly, active learning environment and the qualified team of teachers with years of experience in teaching English as a Second Language provide a setting in which the students not only learn, but flourish. The vast majority of our students hear about the school from friends and family who have attended our school.

The students have access to amenities such as a parking garage, a snack bar, a Student Lounge, a free Internet Café, and a Student Library. All classrooms have windows, large tables, and padded chairs. You will appreciate the comfortable learning environment.

Methods & Materials

Most of the highly qualified teachers of the school have worked overseas and bring their experiences into the classroom.  Teachers use modern methods and materials to help you progress quickly.  The program fees include a textbook for your course, but teachers also introduce practical English from magazines, newspapers, movies, television, and music.  Instruction also includes field trips or other activities designed to develop fluency.  Classes are small so that students receive individual attention. 

Certificates & Exams

All students who complete their programs receive an official Certificate of Attendance. Students may register for a variety of exams, at an additional charge, while at the school.  Students interested in exams are encouraged to enroll in one of the following courses :  TOEIC and Cambridge Exam Preparation. 

The school is an official TOEIC ® test center that hosts exams every month. Depending on your course and personal goals, we can also assist with registration for other internationally recognized exams such as the TOEFL ® and Cambridge.   Extra study materials and computer lab time are available at no charge.

Courses

The schools offers 8 different basic language courses, in addition to other specialized courses which are offered periodically, according to student demand. Lessons are structured in such a way that one studies all aspects of the English language : grammar, reading, writing, vocabulary, as well as conversation. We also offer special exam preparation programs for TOEIC and the Cambridge First and Advanced Certificate Exams. In addition, special Business and Private classes are available. The school has also an Internet Cafe that gives students FREE access to the Internet and Email, and a computer lab for exam preparation and general English improvement.

Our English program has 11 levels, from Beginner to Advanced.   New students are thoroughly tested on their first day and placed in levels according to their overall scores.  The flexible program schedules allow students to change levels easily as they progress.

This popular course includes introduction and review of all skill areas and is designed for students who plan to spend most of their time enjoying the sights in and around the city.  Knowledge of English is increased through daily lessons in speaking, writing, reading, vocabulary and pronunciation.

  Business Course (30 lessons)
 

Our Business English course is a combination of the Intensive and Private courses.  Students take Intensive lessons to brush up on general English skills in the morning and then have two hours of private Business English lessons in the afternoon.  This allows for individual focus on business English improvement in work-related vocabulary, speaking, and writing skills such as business correspondence, accounting, marketing or other subjects according to the students' needs

Exam Preparation for TOEIC/TOEFL*

(20 lessons)

 

This course includes instruction in TOEIC and business English. This is a group-course (10 students maximum) that focuses on TOEIC strategy and practice as well as all skills in an everyday or business context.  This type of course is popular with students who may take the TOEIC or students who want to improve their practical and business English skills, especially vocabulary and grammar in conversation. 

The school is an official TOEIC test center. Taking the official TOEIC exam after the course is recommended, but not required.  For this reason, the TOEIC fee is not included, but may be paid to the school optionally once the student arrives. TOEIC exams are held once a month at the school. TOEIC examination fee (not included in the program price) costs USD 65 (USD 70 if results have to be sent to the student home country address).

* Students who would like to take part in a TOEFL preparation course can register for this course. Starting dates available upon request. Note that our partner school in San Diego is not an official TOEFL ® exam center. Thus, you won't be able to take the test at the school. However, it is possible to take the test near San Diego in other centers on specific dates and according to availability. TOEFL examination fee (not included in the program price) costs USD 150 for the Internet-based test and USD 140 for the paper-based test.

  Private Courses (One-to-One)
This one-on-one course is geared toward students who have specific needs and wish to work on individual language weaknesses.  Instruction is very flexible, and students are invited to request particular areas of focus. You may choose a course of 10, 20, or 30 lessons per week.

  Academic University Preparation      (20 or 30 lessons)
This course is designed for students who plan to study English for longer lengths of time, specifically for the purpose of developing English skills for university or college entrance in the US.  Practical English usage is also a part of this course.  Students enrolled in this course receive free application assistance for local colleges and universities.  You may choose a course of 20 or 30 lessons per week.

  English + Surfing in California

You can combine any English Course with Surfing lessons. The price includes a soft top new technology surf board, a wetsuit and all necessary equipment. A surfing lesson lasts 90 minutes. For each lesson taken, students benefit from one hour of free surf board rental and equipment after the class. Surfing lessons are generally held on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Possibility to schedule classes on any other 2 afternoons of the week (except on weekends) upon request. If there is a minimum of 6 students participating in the course, students can be picked up from the school to the surfing location in the school’s private shuttle van. Drop off can be arranged with prior notice.

  • Duration : 2 weeks minimum (2 lessons per week)
  • 1 lesson = 150 minutes (90 minutes class + 60 minutes of free surf board + equipment rental)
  • Hours : 2 afternoons per week, generally on Tuesday and Thursday
  • Starting Dates : Every Monday
  • Free day trip to Mexico for students booking a 04 weeks course minimum (8 lessons)

Price : USD 50 per lesson / USD 45 per lesson for 12 lessons or more

Activities + Excursions
When school is out, we know how to have fun, too. The school regularly organizes school trips to such destinations as Disneyland, Mexico, San Francisco and Las Vegas and has a full-time Activity Coordinator. Also, some kind of sport or recreational activity is organized for the entire school every week. Here is an example of our daily activities:

Visas & Documents

The school is authorized by the Immigration and Naturalization Service to issue the I-20 form Certificate of Eligibility to international students.  If you plan to enter the US on a student visa, you must request an I-20 and enroll in a course with a minimum of 20 lessons The admissions staff of our partner school will advise you regarding other documents you may need.  If the main purpose of your visit is not English studies, you may enter on a visa waiver or other appropriate visa. Contact your local US embassy for more information regarding visas. All students are advised to purchase medical insurance prior to arrival.

The school is registered with the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education, under the California Department of Consumer Affairs.  The Center is also SEVIS-approved by the Department of Justice. The Center has been in operation since 1981.

Transportation

There are many ways to travel to San Diego.  You can arrive by airplane, bus or train.  The San Diego International Airport is located very close to the downtown area, so taxi rides to apartments and hotels are short.  Main bus and trolley stops are close to the school building.  Monthly passes for unlimited bus and trolley use are available at various locations downtown.  Our staff will be happy to assist you with public transportation schedules, car rentals, and downtown parking.  

Students who choose to live with one of our host families receive free transportation from and to the airport.
