The basic programme provides intensive coaching in grammar, sentence structure and vocabulary. Reading and listening comprehension as well as written exercises are important components of our courses. One of our basic principles is to ensure a maximum of spoken communication. You are encouraged to practice your spoken German with your teacher and with your classmates. After a written assessment test and an oral assessment talk you are placed in the appropriate level. The written assessment test takes approximately 60 minutes to complete and covers grammar, reading comprehension and writing skills. If the placement test has not been sent at least till Monday one week before course start, it is possible that you miss the first day’s classes. The school offers 7 levels from beginners to advanced (A0/A1 to C2) which follow the pattern of the Common European Framework of Reference as issued by the European Commission that is the basis for the advancement of European multilingualism. | Courses - general Information:

Use of our multimedia library and computer facilities is a good way of adding to and reinforcing the skills acquired in class work. Teachers The teachers see themselves as your friends and partners. They are native speakers of standard German and take genuine pleasure in working with you. They are highly qualified and regularly attend training courses. Requirements for studying at an Austrian university: Certain restrictions to university admission especially in popular studies (i.e. medicine-related studies, biology, pharmacy, psychology, business studies and others) have been introduced at some universities. A2 - Grundstufe Deutsch (GD) * The candidate is able to communicate in everyday situations on an elementary level. This certificate proofs your German skills if applying for permanent residency or Austrian citizenship. Elementary 2. B1 - Zertifikat Deutsch * The Zertifikat Deutsch is a joint certificate of OSD, the Goethe Institute, WBT and Fribourg University. | Since opening in 1988, our German language school partner gained a worldwide reputation for its successful range of German courses and its extensive experience in the organisation, monitoring and evaluation of Work Experience programmes. | | | | German + Paid Work | | The school offers German language courses in combination with paid work experience. The programme is divided into two parts. First you attend a preparatory German course in Vienna for at least 04 weeks. In 20 or 30 lessons / week you are improving your communication skills. Lessons in grammar and conversation help you with syntax and vocabulary building. You practice formal and informal letter writing, and work on listening and reading comprehension. This is followed by a work placement lasting a minimum of 01 or 02 months at a carefully selected Austrian enterprise, e.g. hotel, restaurant, travel agency, import/export company or ski school. The offered job placements are in Vienna, Salzburg or tourist resorts in the Alps. Accommodation and insurance are provided by the employer or financed by an appropriately higher salary. The courses are an opportunity for you to update your language skills and exchange your experiences in using various teaching methods and approaches with international colleagues and teaching staff of the language school. | German + Music (1 lesson per week) | | Vienna is the city where Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and Brahms have lived and worked. Those interested in music including students and graduates of international music colleges can take advantage of the unique opportunity to combine learning German with music tuition at the Vienna Conservatorium. Parallel to your German course (Standard / Intensive course), you take music tuition. | Music instruction takes place at the Vienna Conservatorium which is about 20 minutes from the German language school by underground. About 600 students from all over the world study music at the institute. Instruction for music students and professionals and lessons for enthusiastic amateurs are available.

Lessons take place at the Dependance Sacré Coeur, which is situated directly next-to the main building of the language school. Accommodation Residence summer school Standard The Summer School not only comprises classrooms, common rooms and the restaurant but also an extensive accommodation wing. With boys and girls separated, students are accommodated in spacious, friendly and comfortable 4-6 bedded rooms (shower on each floor) directly on the school grounds. Sports: There are a number of sporting activities available: beach volleyball, football, table-tennis, ”Olympic Games”, visits to outdoor swimming pools and Danube Island. Creative activities: You can do handicrafts, make music, go to waltzing lessons or join the theatre or mime group. - Participants on the junior courses may only leave the school premises with written permission of parents or legal guardians. Please provide written permission that your son/daughter may go out alone in the afternoons and/or evenings if you request.
- The amount of pocket money you bring depends on what you are used to. However, we would recommend slightly more pocket money than at home – at least EUR 40 per week (telephone calls, travel tickets, admission tickets).
- On the first day of the course all students must furnish proof of health and casualty insurance and pay a deposit of EUR 30 which will be refunded on the last day provided that no damage has been caused to school property.
- Cash, flight tickets and passports can be deposited with the course leader for safekeeping.
- Please bring sufficient clothing and any equipment (e.g. tennis rackets) you may need for sporting activities and come prepared for rainy weather. If necessary, you can have your clothes washed at the school launderette.
- We must be informed of any health conditions requiring special attention or special diets at registration.

We want to communicate more than German language. The cultural and leisure programme will present a many-sided view of Vienna and Austrian culture. And the best of it is that everything is included in the price. Every German course features five lessons of our cultural and leisure programme a week. | - Vienna city walks and guided tours take our students into the city’s nooks and crannies.
- Talks on Austrian music, art, history, literature and architecture allow for insights into the workings of Austrian society.
- Videos with teacher support: vocabulary help and discussion help you understand.
- Fun/adventure: Viennese waltz course, cooking, parties, karaoke, a torchlight walk through Vienna, a visit of a ‘Heurigen’ (traditional wine tavern) or a beer pub.

Free evenings are perfect for discovering Vienna on your own. Our students often opt for opera, concert, theatre or cinema visits. We are happy to assist you with ticket reservations and hot tips on Vienna’s night life. The weekends are a time for culture and nature. We organize trips and excursions to Salzburg (“Mozart city”), Graz (capital of Styria), Klosterneuburg (famous for its Babenberg heritage) and to “Wachau“ region and Danube valley. In summer, we swim at Lake Neusiedl and savour Austrian wine at taverns (“Heuriger”). You can swim, cycle, sail, surf and waterski to your heart’s content at Vienna’s “Donauinsel“ (Danube Island). Sporty students and teachers can also get together for soccer and volleyball. In winter, we organize skiing and snowboarding days. Excursions are booked and paid for directly in Vienna.
