The school is situated in a pretty residential area only 10 minutes by bus from Oxford city centre.

Shops, bars, sports facilities, a swimming-pool and the majority of host families as well as the residential accommodation are within easy walking distance of the school.

Academic facilities are of high standard and include 21 classrooms, a computer learning centre, interactive whiteboards, self-access study centre, library, a fully equipped art studio and a lecture hall.

Courses - general information

  • Orientation / testing usually takes place on Monday (or Tuesday if Monday is a public holiday).
  • Lessons begin after testing or the following day.
  • All lessons are 45 minutes.
Learning Materials: are lent to the students (text book or study file) free of charge.

All teachers are CELTA or DELTA qualified. You will have at least two teachers during your course to ensure a varied learning experience.

These language level descriptions are linked to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Typically students progress up one level every 6-10 weeks. Standard English language course for adults. 20 lessons per week covering all areas of general English including: grammar, reading, writing, vocabulary, pronunciation, speaking, listening, comprehension and expression.

You will find lessons are dynamic and interesting, with plenty of interactive learning and close attention from your teacher. You will use a variety of learning material including a course book, newspapers and magazines, online resources and video. The course includes both grammar, vocabulary and syntax as well as the practical use of the English language.

They concentrate on using and improving their language skills through extensive reading, writing, speaking and listening practice. Lessons may include the use of video, television, audio, role-play and authentic texts.

IMPORTANT: In the summer months July/August, availability in the Standard Course CC may be limited and you can alternatively choose the SV (20 lessons / from 2 weeks on) which we recommend especially to younger students (16-20 years).

Note : This course changes to a summer schedule from 21st June to 27th August and lessons can take place in the morning or afternoon or be combination of morning and afternoon lessons.

This is a full time Intensive English language course for adults which ensures very rapid progress in all areas of English.

You will use a variety of learning material including a course book, newspapers and magazines, online resources and video.

The 8 lessons each week in Special Interest Groups will enable you to study a range of more specialist English language topics and areas according to your needs and interests.

One-to-One English Language Course (only in combination with another course)

A tailor-made course to suit the individual requirements of the student. One-to-one tuition provides a very intensive form of study. The student determines not only the content but also the quantity and pace (intensity) of their English lessons.

You can add one-to-one lessons to your course if you need very intensive tuition in a particular area of English, such as before an examination, job interview or university interview.

One-to-One lessons are available from September to June only (not available in July and August)

IELTS Preparation Intensive English Language Course (28 lessons per week) (6 weeks) (Code PI)

A full-time intensive English language course with 28 lessons per week including 20 general English lessons and 8 specialist IELTS lessons which are usually in the afternoons.

This course can be combined with one-to-one lessons for additional IELTS preparation (not July/August). Students who wish to study IELTS for longer can join the Intensive Course with the IELTS option.  

  • 20 lessons per week cover all areas of General English including grammar, reading, writing, speaking and listening.
  • 8 lessons per week are devoted to specialist IELTS preparation: these lessons cover the essential grammar, vocabulary and language skills required for success in the IELTS examination. You will also learn exam techniques, self-correction techniques and have regular practice exams.

English with Art & Design

English with Art & Design (28 lessons per week) (Code OAT)

Intensive English with Art and Design combines classes in general English with specialist classes in a variety of art and design related disciplines. English is taught in our regular English Intensive language course to improve your use of the language in all the main skills – reading, writing, speaking, listening grammar, vocabulary, comprehension and expression. Art tuition is given by the school´s regular art teachers. The course includes free use of the dedicated art studio.

This course is suitable for students who need to improve their English for study or employment while preparing a portfolio of artwork. It is also beneficial if you simply want to develop your painting and drawing skills

You will have 20 lessons (15 hours) per week of general English classes; you will spend on average 8 lessons (6 hours) per week with your art teacher and you are expected to spend at least another 6 hours per week working in the art studio on your projects.

Summer Vacation English Language Course (20 lessons + 1 excursion per week) (Code SV)

Great value international summer course with lessons, excursions, sports and activities! The course combines English language lessons with a programme of optional sports and activities and a weekly excursion.

The English language course includes classroom lessons focusing on listening, reading, comprehension and grammar as well as speaking and listening exercises.  

Essential information:

  • Available from mid-June to the end of August (every Monday from 21st June - 16th August / the course ends on 27th August 2010)

English Language Course for Teenagers in Oxford, England
Important notes :
  • A standard activity programme is included but these activities are optional.
  • Lessons operate on a shift system with a combination of morning and afternoon sessions.
  • The free weekly excursions take place on Saturday. Students are advised to arrive / depart on a Sunday so that they do not miss an excursion.
  • Please be aware that this course does not include a complete supervision. Students are treated as adults and are only supervised during classes and school activities.
  • Departure Check-in Service: A check-in service may be arranged on request to assist students on departure. A driver or guide will assist the student with check-in and ensure that they pass through immigration. If the student is booked with the airline as Unaccompanied Minor, the driver will also wait until the flight has departed. The fee for this service is GBP 30.
  • Unaccompanied Minors: It is essential to notify at least 4 weeks in advance if a student is booked as an Unaccompanied Minor with the airline. For Unaccompanied Minors, the school will provide the name and telephone number of the person meeting the child on arrival and the parents must provide StudyGlobal with the name and contact details of the person meeting the child when they return home.

The school is closed for Christmas vacation from the 19th of December 2009 to the 03rd of January 2010 and from 18th December 2010 to 3rd January 2011(the school re-opens on Tuesday 4th January 2011 as 3rd January 2011 is a public holiday).
