The school was established in 1983 and is the most centrally located language school in the city. It is situated right in the heart of the historic university town, less than 100 metres from Market Square and the Central City Library. The famous King’s College Chapel and the main bus station are only 3 minute walk. You will find the school in a charming period building dating back to 1820. The school holds an “Open-Door Policy”, which means students are welcome to discuss any aspect of their course, at any time, with the Director of Studies. | All students will take a placement test to accurately assess their English language ability so they can placed in a class with students of the same level. The students will be given a welcome talk by the Academic Director, who provides a brief introduction regarding timetables, lessons and other academic information. | All courses include: - Course book and materials

| Standard English Course (20 lessons per week) | The Standard English Course is a General English Course which offers good solid foundation in all aspects of the English language. The course provides the essential structures and vocabulary, using a course book and supplementary materials and also gives a lot of practice in all four language skills: Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing. With regular Speaking and Listening practice and new language input, the course is designed to improve the student’s level and to maximise their ability to use the English. Students will have two teachers, one of whom will be the class teacher who will look after the student’s academic progress throughout the stay. |  |

| Intensive English Course (30 lessons per week) | The Intensive English course is the same as the Standard English program, but with the advantage of two extra lessons in the afternoon (30 lessons per week). This course gives the student more study time in order to progress, while gaining greater fluency and accuracy in a more timely manner. A combination of General English for core skills and selection of electives will allow you to gain greater fluency and accuracy more quickly. We provide a number of Exam Preparation Courses which are guaranteed to improve your English and prepare you for your chosen examination.
The primary focus of the course is to ensure that you attain or surpass the level of English you require to sit your chosen exam. The more time you dedicate to learning English, the more you will improve and can therefore achieve your desired exam score. You will also receive exam preparation skills specific to your chosen exam, ensuring that you are 100% prepared on the day of your examination. We know that every student is different, which is why we combine a structured course with a personal study plan, individual tutorials and a personal reading program, to ensure that you maximise your personal potential. To thoroughly prepare for the exam we recommend a 10-12 week study period. Exam Preparation Courses available are: IELTS , and Cambridge ESOL examinations , including FCE, CAE and CPE. |  |

We offer short intensive courses created for busy people who want to improve their English ability as much as they can in a short period of time. To ensure that you benefit from your course in the most efficient way, we establish your needs before your arrival. For this purpose, you will complete a needs analysis, identifying your motivation for learning English. Once we have this information, we are able to customise your course to suit your needs. Throughout the course, your progress will be monitored and recorded. At the end of your course, you will receive a linguistic profile detailing your strengths, weaknesses, what you have covered, how you have developed and what you now need to do to consolidate your learning and how to improve further after you have returned home. |

| Business English One-to-One (20, 30 or 40 lessons per week) | Maximise your time by taking a course specifically created for you. Following your needs analysis and after discussing your language requirements, we will design a course exclusively for you. You could choose to concentrate on a number of core professional skills, or focus on a particular project. We encourage you to bring materials from your workplace in order to refine specific documents or presentations while you are at the school. | Business Course Full Immersion (40 One-to-One lessons + 15h with teacher per week) | This is the most intensive and customised course, intended for a one or two week program. It is a combination of 40 One-to-One lessons at school, with 15 hours in the company of a teacher outside of the classroom. Activities outside of the classroom are arranged to suit your interests. Every weekday you will have lunch with a teacher. Following your work placement/internship you must complete your Work and Study course by returning to the school for 2 weeks, during which you will complete your employment skills qualification. During your course you must sit for an IELTS test.

Job Club
| | The job club is a free and quite popular service offered to our students. It consists of helping students to find a paid job whilst studying, in accordance to UK visa regulations. There is no minimum number of weeks in order to use that service, however, it is rather recommended for long-term students (8 weeks +) as it might be difficult to find a job for a short study period only. Students cannot book this service in advance. It must be discussed and dealt with directly between the school and the student upon arrival. |

Activities

The University of Cambridge organises many events throughout the year, such as rowing races and football matches. Although these are not usually open to members of the public, they still make for an excellent afternoon's entertainment as a spectator. Alternatively, you may wish to visit one of the city’s two sports' centers, both of which boast sporting facilities of all kinds, ranging from basketball to trampolining and swimming pools. The Colleges of Cambridge University are perhaps the main attraction for many of the city’s visitors. They are everything you might imagine of an ancient, world-renowned university city. For your first sightseeing excursion, a tour around one or more of the colleges is a must.
