English Courses

All students will take a placement test to assess accurately their English language ability so they can placed in the right class with other students of the same level. The students will be given a welcome talk by the Academic Director where timetables, lessons and academic information are explained.

The school’s course levels follow the structure of the Common European Framework.

Standard English Language Course (20 lessons per week)

The Standard English Language Course is a General English Language Course which offers good solid foundation in all aspects of the English language.

The course provides the essential structures and vocabulary, using a course book and supplementary materials and also gives a lot of practice in all four language skills: Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing.

With regular Speaking and Listening practice and new language input, the course is designed to improve the student’s level and to maximize their ability to use the English. Students will have two teachers, one of whom will be the class teacher who will look after the student’s academic progress throughout the stay.

Intensive English Language Course (30 lessons per week)

The Intensive English Language course is the same as the Standard English Language programme but with the advantage of two extra lessons in the afternoon (30 lessons per week). This course will give the student more study time to progress and gain greater fluency and accuracy at a faster pace. A combination of General English for core skills and selection of electives will allow you to gain greater fluency and accuracy more quickly. The special focus module is held in the afternoon.

  • 1 lesson = 45 minutes
  • Timetable: 9:00 – 12:30 (incl. 30 minute break) + 13:30 – 15:00. The school reserves the right to introduce a double banking schedule, alternating between morning and afternoon sessions, with lessons either from 08:30 – 12:00 + 12:30 – 14:00 or from 12:30 – 14:00 + 14:30 – 18:00.

Mini Group 20 English Language Course (20 lessons per week)
A Mini Group English language course is ideal for highly motivated people who have only a short period of time to study. This course will improve your speaking and listening skills and correct, secure and develop what you have already learnt.

The small class size of a maximum of 6 students ensures a greater level of individual attention and a faster rate of progress in the time you have available.

At the end of the course you will be much more confident in your ability and will have achieved a greater level of fluency and accuracy. This course is more flexible and personal allowing your teacher to monitor your progress more closely and tailor the course to your development needs.

Academic Year Programme (20 or 30 lessons per week)

The Academic Year is specifically designed for students studying 6 months or more and is highly structured and comprehensive to enable you to devote yourself to your studies and to maximize your progress over an extended period of time. Choose to study 20 lessons or the intensive option of 30 lessons each week. With 6 to 12 months of dedicated English language study you can progress at least two complete language levels. With dedication and commitment you can advance up to four levels.

Upon reaching upper-intermediate level, you will have the freedom to choose between business and academic pathways. Students can take a recognized exam preparation course.

If you would like to embark on an undergraduate or post graduate course in an English speaking destination, the University Access Program of our partner school will provide you with the skills you need to achieve your goals and chosen degree.

Exam Preparation Courses

We provide a number of Exam Preparation English Language Courses which guarantee to improve your English and prepare you for your chosen examination.

The primary focus of the course is to ensure that you attain or surpass the level of English skills you require to sit your chosen exam. The more time you dedicate to learning English, the more you will improve and therefore achieve your desired exam score. You will also receive exam preparation skills specific to your chosen exam, ensuring that you are 100% prepared on the day of your examination. Business Full Immersion English Language Course (40 One-to-One lessons in school + 15h outside with a teacher per week)

This is the most intensive and customised course intended for a one or two week programme. It is a combination of 40 One-to-One lessons at school with 15 hours in the company of a teacher outside of the classroom. Activities outside of the classroom are arranged to suit your interests.

Job Club

The job club is a free and quite popular service offered to our students. It consists of helping students to find a paid job whilst studying, in accordance to UK visa regulations. The school will guide you in CV and application letter writing, give you tips for interviews and direct you to the best places to find jobs locally. Jobs are typically in catering, housekeeping and the hospitality industry. There is no minimum number of weeks in order to use that service, however, it is rather recommended for long-term students (8 weeks +) as it might be difficult to find a job for a short study period only. Students cannot book this service in advance. It must be discussed and dealt with directly between the school and the student upon arrival.

Junior Summer English Programs (13-17 years)

Brighton, the coolest city on the south coast is a traditional English seaside town with a difference. Well known for the cosmopolitan atmosphere, Brighton draws the young and hip from all over the world. In summer the city bursts into life with students enjoying the beach, the Pier, the Royal Pavilion and loads of great shopping.

Our English language partner school therefore offers an English language program for younger students aged 13 to 17 years during the summer months from June to August. Students study 20 or 30 lessons per week in international classes of max. 15 students per group. The school uses a communicative approach to make students feel comfortable when speaking English. Students alternate between morning and afternoon classes.

The course includes accommodation in a host family or student residence as well as a full supervised activity program and airport transfer upon arrival and departure (see further details & conditions below).

Family Program

Our English language school partner offers the opportunity for families to experience a holiday with a difference in summer: sharing an unforgettable vacation whilst learning English. Parents can study at one of our adult centres whilst children take part in the Day Program at our Junior Centre. Alternatively, parents may choose to take a relaxing break whilst their children learn English.

The school will be closed during public holidays and missed lessons will not be recuperated (except One-to-One).
The school will also be closed for Christmas holiday from 19th December 2009 to 3rd January 2010 and from 24th December 2010 to 2nd January 2011.


Activities/Excursions

Brighton has plenty of sights to discover, even if you're just ambling around the towncentre. Whether you are after museums and landmarks, or pubs and clubs, you are sure to find it in this diverse city. The Brighton Pavilion and The Pier are hard to miss, and offer a wonderful insight into the origins of the city as a seaside resort of yesterday and today. There are several cinemas as well as theatres, a concert hall and museums/art galleries.

The sea and seafront walkways bring a very sociable, sporty and outdoor way of life the city. The seafront, which spans from the Brighton Marina to Hove, is a wonderful place to exercise. In summer, the beach has its own special seasonal range of sports from swimming to volleyball and more

There are also plenty of spectator sports - enjoy a day at Brighton Races or a night at Brighton Greyhound Stadium. Or take a Brighton Walks tour - a Ghost Walk or Legends of the Lanes.

Brighton is also home to football and rugby pitches and cricket fields where you can go and watch some great games. If participating is more your thing, there are golf courses, tennis courts, badminton courts, swimming pools, fitness centres and gymnasiums for public use.
