The Standard English Language Course is a popular course option in Santa Monica as it enables participants to achieve progress in communication skills and can be combined with activities and leisure time. Many students choose this option to improve their English while using their free time to discover the many sights of Los Angeles.

Most students choose this option and it is recommended to students that want to make significant progress in class as well as apply their acquired skills outside of the classroom during activities and visits to the local attractions.

The Intensive English language course is designed to promote communicative competence in English. It focuses on grammar structure and usage, conversation, listening, vocabulary, pronunciation, reading & writing.

This course is given in Westwood, Los Angeles, which is about 2.5 miles / 3.5 km from Santa Monica.

• 24 lessons per week
• Classes meet Monday through Friday, 9:00am - 12:40pm and Tuesday & Thursday 1:45pm - 3:30pm
• Open to students at any level, from elementary through advanced

• Average class size is 8-10 (maximum is 12). In July and August, usual class size is 10 -12 (maximum is 14).

This small-group English language course features a small class size for those who want more attention and opportunity to participate actively in lessons as the school guarantees a maximum of 6 students in each mini group. Given that the classes in that program are so small, we recommend it for students who feel comfortable in small group settings.

This one-on-one course is geared toward students who have specific needs and wish to work on individual language weaknesses. Instruction is very flexible, and students are invited to request particular areas of focus. You may choose a course of 10, 20, or 30 lessons per week.

The TOEIC / TOEFL exam preparation course specializes in classes that prepare you for either of these two challenging exams with a highly trained teacher who has had success in helping students with test taking strategies. The course also features several real practice tests in all language skills areas but also includes conversation, movies, and field trips to make the learning fun.

*Students who would like to take part in a TOEIC or TOEFL preparation course can register for this course. Note that our partner school in Santa Monica is not an official TOEIC or TOEFL ® exam center. Thus, you won't be able to take the test at the school. However, it is possible to take the test in Los Angeles in other centers on specific dates and according to availability. TOEFL examination fee (not included in the program price) costs USD 160-180 for both the Internet-based test and the paper-based test. TOEIC exam fee is USD 85. Exam fees are subject to change without notice.

This English language course prepares students for the Cambridge certificate exams. Passing scores on Cambridge exams can lead to entry into educational programs and professional opportunities in your country. Lessons focus on strategy and practice for exam as well as overall building of practical English skills.

This program is designed for students who wish to combine group work in General English with individualized work in Business English.

You can combine the Intensive English language course (20 lessons per week) in the morning with surfing lessons in the afternoon. All Surf lessons at Santa Monica Surf School include a personal instructor, surfboards and wetsuits. The lessons are typically 2 hours long.

Our English language school partner is now offering English plus sports. Learn English in the morning and use the afternoon to practice your favourite sport among Gym, Tennis, Golf and Bicycle.

• English Classes from Monday through Friday, from 8:40am - 12:20pm and Individual Sport lessons in the afternoon (golf and tennis twice a week)

Santa Monica and Los Angeles are the perfect places to combine your English language course with an endless variety of activities. When classes are finished you are encouraged to participate in some activities organized by the school.

Take advantage of the fun stuff going on in and around LA. The school regularly organizes school trips to such destinations as Disneyland, Mexico, San Francisco and Las Vegas. An activity coordinator at the school will be happy to help you organize your schedule.

If you like it more independent, just walk to the beach after class or take a bus to Beverly Hills or Hollywood discovering Sunset Plaza, Melrose Place, Hollywood Boulevard and the walk-of-fame or spend the day in Universal Studios or Disneyland.
