Spring and Fall Semester Programs Mexico

The Intensive Spanish Program has been designed for all college-students. Participants in this program have the opportunity to benefit from intensive Spanish courses in a Spanish-speaking environment, with extracurricular activities, and especially with the personal contact of their Mexican host families

We have established two annual sessions applicable to institutions with semester schedules. For independent students who don't wish to be a part of a University group, courses may be started any Monday throughout the year.

Why should you participate in an intensive Spanish semester program?

First of all, in a period of 12 weeks, you may receive up to 18 semester credits in intensive Spanish language (maximum 5 students per group) and Latin American culture classes.

In addition, world globalization has increased the demand for highly trained professionals who are bilingual or have a knowledge of a foreign language. This has led to an increase in people who need and want to learn Spanish for both career and personal interests.

By learning Spanish it is possible to communicate with over 300 million people from more than 35 Spanish speaking countries each rich in culture, history and tradition.

	Credits
Credits granted by the university through the Center for Bilingual Multicultural Studies are transferable to institutions abroad. In the case of students whose home university has no agreement with Universidad Internacional, they must make sure that credits are accepted by their school. The Department of Intensive Language and Cultural Studies has permanent Study Abroad Semester Programs with the following American universities: Austin Peay State University Iowa State University Lake Superior State University State University of New York at Brockport St. Mary’s College Texas Tech University Union College University of North Texas University of Utah University of Findlay This Department also has permanent Study Abroad Programs with 60 other American Colleges and Universities.

Program Schedule

A typical daily schedule begins at 8 am and ends at 4 pm Monday through Friday:
Three hours of Spanish classes in a group with a maximum of 5 students.
Two hours of Latin American courses
One hour of lectures (Conferencia)
Two hours of optional classes

Housing with Mexican host families

In order to insure that our students have the maximum exposure to the Mexican way of life, the Housing Department puts a great deal of effort into the selection of host families.
Living with a Mexican family will not only improve student’s Spanish but will also give him/her a first hand view of Mexican culture and tradition.

	Excursions
The academic program is supplemented by a variety of lively activities, including excursions to archeological sites, museums and cultural events.

	Cuernavaca
Cuernavaca, capital of Morelos, is located just an hour south of Mexico City. It is known as “The City of Eternal Spring”, boasting year round temperatures of 75°. Cuernavaca is surrounded by beautiful resorts, archaeological sites and indigenous villages.
