All the airlines that fly to Chile internationally arrive at the Comodoro Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport. The airport is located 17 kms. from downtown Santiago. There is a bus (approx. US 2.70) and taxi service (approx. US 18), which takes you to and from the airport.
In the southern hemisphere the seasons are opposite to those in the northern hemisphere. In general, summer with mild temperatures and long days is the best time to visit Patagonia and the Southern Andes. Winter time is recommended for travelling to the North and Northwest as the rains are less frequent and the tropical temperatures drop a few degrees.
