Public Transportation
Although this is the least expensive way, it is not the most convenient, especially if the student has several pieces of luggage. The bus station is located on Level 1 at Concourse E, directly across from Customs. Take the No. 42 bus to the Opa Locka Tri-Rail Station and change to the No. 32 to 164th Street and 37th Avenue, directly across from the gate at St. Thomas University. Ask the driver of the No. 42 bus for a transfer. The fare including the transfer is $2.50. Metrobus accepts dollar bills, quarters (25cents), dimes (10cents) and nickels (5 cents). Drivers cannot make change. Total travel time will be approximately 90 minutes. The last bus leaves Miami Airport at 7:55 p.m. on weekdays and 7:15 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
All fares should be considered approximate and are subject to change without notice.

Car Rental
To rent a car in the City of Miami it is required to have car insurance; in case that your own insurance would not be transferable you can buy it with the rental car company at a reasonable price. Normally, Miami car rental companies put a hold on the renter’s credit card as a deposit ($250.00) and cash is not accepted. In order to drive legally in the U.S . you must have a valid driver license issued by any of the 50 states’ motorcycle and vehicle authority or an international valid driver license. You must be 21 years old or older to rent a vehicle in Florida State.

Miami car rentals vary and go from affordable to luxury car rentals of Miami. You can actually rent an economic car for $30.00 per day and up.

Taxi
Make sure that the driver and vehicle are licensed. There must be a decal and/or license number on the vehicle and the driver must display a registration with a picture and the driver’s number. Tipping is optional but customary. The taxicab fare is determined by the taxi’s meter, which displays the charge for the ride. From the Airport to the University the taxicab fare is approximately $65. Always ask for a receipt. The ride will take approximately 25 minutes.
