How to get to Cambridge

It is very easy to access Cambridge City as it is located in the centre of an extensive network of roads, motorways and train stations.

By air

Cambridge has a small airport which serves a very limited number of destinations. Cambridge Airport is 3 miles away (4,5 km) to the East of the city, next to the M11 and A14. If you are travelling to London, the nearest airport to Cambridge is London Stansted, only 30 minutes to the south by road on the M11. London Luton is also close to Cambridge. London Heathrow is 70 miles to the South East, 1.5 hours by car on the M25.

Travel from London airports to Cambridge:

  • Stansted: 30 minutes by train
  • Luton: 75 minutes by bus
  • Heathrow: 2,5 hours by train
  • Gatwick: 2,5 hours by train

By train

Students can take a direct train from King’s Cross or Liverpool Street stations to Cambridge. Travel time is about 01h00/01h30. Both train stations are well served by the underground and have easy access from any London airport.

  • Direct bus London Luton – Cambridge: departs every 02 hours; travel time: about 01h30; one-way ticket: about 15 GBP
  • Direct bus London Heathrow – Cambridge: departs every 30 min.; travel time: about 02h30; one-way ticket: about 28 GBP
  • Direct bus London Gatwick – Cambridge: departs every hour; travel time: about 04 hours; one-way ticket: about 34 GBP.

Getting around Cambridge
