LEARN SPANISH IN GUATEMALA - LANGUAGE COURSE ANTIGUA

Antigua, GuatemalaMinimum Age: 17 years / Average Age:
24-28 years |

|
Location |
 |
|
The city of Antigua was built in 1543. It
preserves the architectonic characteristics
of the 16th Century, such as stone paved
streets, baroque style buildings, large
doors with stone arches, windows with stone
base and forged steel balconies, beams
carved in precious woods, large stone
fountains and tile roofs. All houses and
buildings are of colonial style. They
prevail in a strange and extraordinary
mixture of peace and active life, forming
today, a beautiful colonial city where it
seems that time stood still.
UNESCO declared Antigua "Heritage of
Humanity" in 1979. |

The teacher prepares
a weekly plan according to your needs and during every lesson
notes any errors you make. At the end of each class, the teacher
reviews these errors. The student will then take a weekly
exam which covers all the errors made and all of the grammar
studied that week. This is done to measure the
student's progress.
As part of our qualifications every professor is capable of
giving the FSI (Foreign Service Interview) and ACTFL (American
Counsel of Teaching Foreign Languages) tests, which you would
need to get a job in Latin America or get University credits.
Our teachers are 100% Internationally Authorized to administer
the test and verify the result. If you study for at least
two months with us, the tests are free, otherwise the cost
is $25.00 for each. The certificates are recognized by most
companies and educational institutions in the world.

The
staff has vocabulary lists specified for all types
of work or study; airlines, medicine, architecture, law, economics,
teachers, social services, missionaries, as well as for students
who only need Spanish for traveling. Please let us know for
what you need the Spanish, and we will teach you according to
your need. As part of our qualification, the
school is affiliated and accredited by La Universidad Rural de Guatemala,
therefore, you can apply for credits to use in your university
to pass from one, up to three, semesters. The fee is $70.00
for the exam, diploma and certificate (Please contact us for
more information ).

Courses |
 |
|
| Our Classes begin
on the day of the week that YOU choose, Monday through Saturday.
YOU decide how many hours you wish to study; options range from
4 to 8 hours daily. Each student remains with his or her own
teacher for one week and then rotates to another teacher. This
change provides the student with an exposure to different manners
of speech. However, if you prefer to keep your original teacher,
you may continue studying with that teacher. If you study for
more than 4 hours per day, you have the option of having a different
teacher in the morning and afternoon. |

To truly learn
the language you need to know the proper grammar and vocabulary.
Yet, too much focus on grammar eventually becomes boring and
the student looses the concentration
that is necessary to digest the
material. We blend a balance of grammar with activities.
Students are given the opportunity to participate in many activities.
Imagine yourself making "tortillas", as well
as other Guatemalan food in the traditional ways,
going on adventure tours around towns
near Antigua or visiting a coffee and macadamia nut plantation. |
The activities include:
- Movies in Spanish.
- Salsa and Merengue (dance lessons).
- Preparation of traditional Guatemalan food (ex.: how to make tortillas).
- Scrabble in Spanish and other table games.
- Soccer/Basketball games (teachers vs. students).
- Tours in Antigua, Guatemala
- Demonstration of weaving typical Guatemalan clothes and explanation of each design.
- Visit to social projects, museums and Mayan ruins.
- Trips during the week to indigenous
villages to see Mayan ceremonies and on
the weekends to touristy places.
- Tours with a guide to the volcanoes
Pacaya, Agua and Fuego.
- Bicycle tours to areas usually not frequented by tourists:
e.g. coffee and macadamia nut plantations and more.
*All activities are free (except transportation,
entrance fees and bicycle rental)Airport
