Courses - general information

• All lessons are 45 minutes.
• Maximum 14 Students per class (average 10-12)
• Orientation / testing usually takes place on Monday (or Tuesday if Monday is a public holiday).
• Course certificate for students who successfully complete 90% of the course.
• Orientation and welcome pack (including map).

All teachers are CELTA or DELTA qualified. You will have at least two teachers during your course to ensure a varied learning experience.

Our English Language School partner uses a system of 8 levels from beginners to advanced to determine the level of your language progression. These language level descriptions are linked to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Typically students progress up one level every 6-10 weeks. Your own progress will depend on the length and intensity of your course, the level at which you are current studying, as well as your own personal ability and motivation.  

Learning materials: You can borrow these during your stay at the school or buy the course books if you would like to keep these after your language program.

28 lessons per week arranged in 2 sections:

• 20 lessons: general English - grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, speaking, listening, comprehension and pronounciation. 
  
• 8 lessons: general English for beginner to pre-intermediate students with special focus on speaking, listening and pronunciation, general English or special interest modules for intermediate to advanced students, such as IELTS preparation, Academic Reading and Writing, Business and Financial English, Law, Conversation, British Life & Culture etc.

Note : This course changes to a summer schedule and lessons can take place in the morning or afternoon or be combination of morning and afternoon lessons

• Trimester: If you study for 12 weeks or more you will have a one-to-one interview with the Director of Studies and a personalized Study Action Plan will be developed for you incl. the guarantee to study for free in case you don’t achieve the result that has been agreed with you in advance
  
• Academic Year: If you study for 24 weeks or more you will also receive a SIM card with GBP 10 credit and one of the lowest tariffs for UK and international calls and a free mobile broadband USB modem pre-loaded with 3 GB for internet and email connection anywhere, anytime and the school’s Money Card (pre-paid MasterCard) for purchase and easy access to funds which you can load online, by SMS or at selected retail outlets

The course includes tuition in exam techniques, self-correcting techniques, regular progress tests and 2 complete practice examinations. Homework is an integral part of the course and you will be expected to complete at least 5 hours of self-study assignments each week.

A full-time intensive English language course with 28 lessons per week including 20 general English lessons and 8 specialist IELTS lessons which are usually in the afternoons.

• 20 lessons per week cover all areas of General English including grammar, reading, writing, speaking and listening.
• 8 lessons per week are devoted to specialist IELTS preparation: these lessons cover the essential grammar, vocabulary and language skills required for success in the IELTS examination. You will also learn exam techniques, self-correction techniques and have regular practice exams.

This is a full-time, very intensive 2 week course with 32 lessons per week concentrating 100% on IELTS preparation. This ensures expert tuition and guarantees that most students will improve their exam performance significantly.

Course structure:

• WEEK 1 – Preparing for the IELTS Exam: This part of the course will help you adapt your existing language skills to interpret and employ the distinctive patterns of academic English.
• WEEK 2 – Exam Practice: This part of the course will give you intensive practice in each of the 4 modules of the exam (Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking). You will do practice tests under exam conditions and specialist teachers will give you feedback on your performance.

This English language course is ideal for students who would like to improve their English skills for use in a wide range of business and financial contexts. It combines General English with specialist Business and Finance related topics and the option to prepare for the Cambridge ICFE and BEC

28 lessons per week arranged in 2 sections:

• 8 lessons: Business and finance terminology, report writing, presentation skills incl. use of PowerPoint; Business case-study – presentation and report; Optional preparation for ICFE and BEC exams

Practical real-life business experence: Every two weeks you will have an accompanied visit to one of London’s leading business and financial institutions. You’ll learn more about the world of commerce and practice your language skills in real life situations. You will attend meetings, communicate with professionals, carry out project research and work on business case-studies.

• 28 lessons per week (21 hours): 20 lessons of general English (15 hours) + 8 lessons of Business & Finance Topics (6 hours)
• Students are expected to spend at least another 6 hours per week of independent work on course projects
• Duration: min. 2 weeks

Great value international summer course with lessons, excursions, sports and activities! The course combines English language lessons with a programme of optional sports and activities and a weekly excursion.

The English language course includes classroom lessons focusing on listening, reading, comprehension and grammar as well as speaking and listening exercises.  

Important notes

• Please note that students on this course are not supervised when not in lessons.
• A standard activity programme is included but these activities are optional.
• Lessons operate on a shift system with a combination of morning and afternoon sessions.
• The free weekly excursions take place on Saturday. Students are advised to arrive / depart on a Sunday so that they do not miss an excursion.
  

Notes:

• Please be aware that this course does not include a complete supervision. Students are treated as adults and are only supervised during the school activities. 
• Departure Check-in Service: A check-in service can be arranged to assist students on departure. A driver or guide will assist the student with check-in and ensure that they pass through immigration. If the student is booked with the airline as Unaccompanied Minor, the driver will also wait until the flight has departed. The fee for this service is GBP 30. This service is compulsory for any student under 16 years traveling as individual.
  
• Unaccompanied Minors: It is essential to notify at least 4 weeks in advance if a student is booked as an Unaccompanied Minor with the airline. For Unaccompanied Minors, the school will provide the name and telephone number of the person meeting the child on arrival and the parents must provide StudyGlobal with the name and contact details of the person meeting the child when they return home.
  

Ideal for students aged 14-16 !

This course is basically the same programme as the Summer Course SV but includes additional services and supervision for young students. As a result all activities are compulsory for students under 16 (unless exempted by their parents in writing) and not optional as in the SV Course.

Important notes:

A driver or guide will assist the student with check-in and ensure that they pass through immigration.
