Dean Hamlet Holiday Complex - St. Julians

(recommended for students 18 - 27 with budget $$)

These well-equipped apartments are run by a friendly staff and set in a quiet location, yet close to the resort centre. This complex is especially appealing to those who enjoy the unique nightlife of St. Julian's & Paceville.

Centrally located in St.Julians, Dean Hamlet is only a few minutes walk from the bustling resort and approximately 10 minutes walk from the sandy bay of St.George's and about 15-20 minutes by bus to the school. The complex is large, but low rise and comprises of several separate blocks. Dean Hamlet has its own swimming pool, sun terraces, fully equipped gymnasium and fitness centre.

The complex also has 24 hour reception, bar, TV lounge, coffee shop, games room and Internet facilities.

Accommodation consists of studio, one, two and three bedrooms self catering apartments sleeping up to 8 persons. All apartments are equipped with kitchenette (2 ring cooker, fridge etc.) and private bath/shower and w.c. Some studios and most 1/2/3 bedroom units have balconies. Twice weekly cleaning service with weekly linen change is provided as standard, unless otherwise arranged.

Amenities: 2 outdoor swimming pools with two sundeck terraces, bar, restaurant, coffee shop, fully equipped fitness centre, 24 hour reception and internet facilities open 24 hours.

Location: 15 - 20 min. by bus from the school

You can choose to rent a studio/apartment by yourself or bring a friend or friends. This accommodation is NOT SHARED unless you decide to bring somebody with you. Exeptions are available in the summer for 1 bedroom apartments where you can book double occupancy and share the room with another student of the same sex.

Astra Studio Apartments - Sliema

(recommended for students over 25 with budget $$)

Astra is  the ideal option for those looking for self-catering accommodation within walking distance from the school. The building is located within 10 minutes walking distance from the school and close to the sea and Malta's main shopping centre Sliema. Astra overlooks magnificent unobstructed sea views of the crystal clear blue waters of the Mediterranean from all the front rooms which include sun terraces. It has a lift service to all floors, room telephone and daily cleaning. Towels are also changed on a daily basis and linen every 3 days.

The basic studio apartments are spacious and fully equipped. With 2 single beds one studio caters for a maximum of 2 persons. The studios include 1 nightstand, 1 desk, 1 wardrobe and 1 table with 2 chairs as well as a small fan. They have an ensuite bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen area including cooker (2 hobs), 1 fridge, 1 microwave and 1 sink as well as cutlery and crockery.

Breakfast is available from 7.00 to 9.30 am and lunch can be taken at the pub next door.

Budget Residences "Balco"

(recommended for students over 18 with low budget $)

For those with a more limited budget we recommend the Balco Residences: Balco Harmony (shared rooms) and Balco Symphony (single rooms). The residences are located in Gzira, in walking distance to Sliema.

1. Balco Harmony - Shared Rooms

Balco Harmony residence is about 15-20 minutes walk from the school. It is a six-storey house, offering a competitively-priced alternative to hotel accommodation or self-catering apartments. Besides the eight rooms, some of which have breathtaking sea views, we also have a kitchen and dining room. The same room, where satellite TV is available, also serves as TV Room throughout the day and evening.

Guests may also make use of our well-equipped kitchen should they wish to cook their own meals. In the entrance hall, there are a public telephone and lavatory, as well as a notice board for affixing school notices and useful telephone numbers that a student might need while on a studying holiday in Malta.

The house caters for 21 guests in twin, treble rooms and quads. Each room has approximately 20 sq metres of bedroom area, where the bedroom includes laminated furniture of a high standard, ceiling fans, carefully located lights, dressing table with mirror, wardrobes (specially designed to take empty suitcases), and ceramic floors. All rooms are SHARED with students of the same sex.

All guest rooms have an ensuite shower, toilet and washbasin. All rooms have a 90-litre refrigerator, hairdryer and in-room satellite television and radio as standard facilties. Air-Condition and safety deposit boxes are available at an extra charge. (Please advise on reservation if you require an air-conditioned room). Prices for sharing a room with 2-4 persons occupancy start at 95 EUR in the off season and 115 EUR in the high season with long-term discounts.

All rooms come with an inter-connecting room – the study area – or a larger study area within the actual bedroom. In this room, one can find a desk with a nest of drawers, telephone line that can be operated on a 'pay-as-you-talk basis'. All power sockets in this area are surge protected to safeguard electronics against any voltage instability. Linen and towels are changed once and twice weekly respectively. Laundry service is also available to all guests. Rooms are cleaned once a week.

2. Balco Symphony – Single Rooms

Balco Symphony Residence is about 25 minutes walk from the school. It has recently opened its facilities and is the first budget residence offering students basic single rooms at very affordable prices.

All 17 brand new bedrooms are for single occupancy. We understand very well that long stay students that come to study enjoy socialising with other in-house students yet love their own privacy. The rooms are carefully designed and having the facilities of 90 liter fridges, hair dryer, direct dialing telephone (VoIP), bilingual sat TV, radio and balcony or window. All rooms are air-conditioned (cooling and heating) at a minimal charge.

Complementing this property, there is 2 kitchens and dining areas for in-house guests at no extra charge. The residence does not have a curfew and all residents are given a front door key and may enter the residence at any time. Non-residents are not allowed on the premises after 10.00 pm.

The boarding house has a roof terrace with a distant sea view, luggage store for late departures and elevator from 1st floor to all bedrooms. All rooms are cleaned once a week, towels are changed twice a week and garbage is collected from the rooms. Laundry and internet service is also available to all guests at an extra charge.

Our host visits the residence every day, to make the general cleaning including garbage collection as well as to attend to any information that guests would like to have.

As we do not have any curfew, all in house guests have a front door key. Guests are kindly requested not to bring any friends after 10pm as well as non residents are not allowed to enter the rooms.

To reach Balco Symphony Residence is very easy. From the Airport get bus no 8 to Valletta Central Station and from Valletta Central Station get bus 60 or 63. Ask the driver to stop by Tony and Guy Hair stylists. Balco Symphony Residence is exactly opposite.

Sundown Court Leisure Resort

(recommended for families, professional and mature students with budget $$-$$$)

Comfortable, affordable and enjoying a tranquil atmosphere, the Sundown Court is the ideal accommodation option for families and offers you complete relaxation. The Resort comprises of 133 units which are housed in 10 three-storey apartment blocks built with typical Maltese limestone and surrounded by extensive, landscaped gardens. It is located in Kappara in an up-market residential area and is just 2.5 kilometers from the seaside and nightlife orientated towns of Sliema and St. Julians and the Dragonara Casino.

Sundown Court is also within walking distance of the University of Malta campus and sports complex, the national Swimming Pool and a five-minute car drive from the Yacht Marina and the new state-of-the-art national Hospital.

STANDARD APARTMENTS
This category of apartments and penthouses are spacious and well-furnished comprising of a combined living/dining room, separate fully-equipped kitchen, bedroom/s and bathroom/s. The apartments vary in size from one bedroom to three bedrooms accommodating two to six persons.

SUPERIOR APARTMENTS
The more discerning client may prefer our tastefully furnished "Superior" apartments which vary from studios for two persons to one bedroom apartments and penthouses which can accommodate up to three persons. The studios comprise of a bedroom with combined living area, kitchenette and bathroom whilst the apartments have a bedroom and bathroom, combined dining/living room and kitchenette.

All apartments are equipped with ceiling fans and televisions.

Most buildings are serviced by passenger lifts and a large number of apartments have a balcony or terrace overlooking the pool area and gardens. In many cases also enjoying an excellent view of Valletta with its magnificent bastions and Grand Harbour. The long established Marina Hotel has been recently refurbished and now boasts 78 fully air-conditioned rooms, a roof top restaurant which enjoys breath-taking views of Valletta and Sliema Creek.

The Marina Hotel is conveniently located on the Tigne seafront, within walking distance of shops, on the popular Strand Promenade, which is a perfect venue for leisurely walks.

All the rooms are fully air-conditioned and have private facilities. Seaview rooms enjoy a full view of Marsamxetto harbour and Valletta from a spacious balcony.

Accommodation is available in single, double and triple bedrooms as well as connecting family suites. All rooms are equipped with a television, a direct dial phone and a hairdryer. A fridge and a safe are also available at a fee.

Europa Hotel 2**, Sliema

Europa Hotel Malta has 65 large rooms on five floors served with an elevator. 15 Rooms are seafront and have amazing Mediterranean Sea views. 15 rooms with balconies overlook Sliema and 35 rooms face internal courtyards. Each room is equipped with television, hair dryer, ceiling fan, telephone and private bath/shower. Interconnecting, triple and quadruple rooms are also available. Rooms are serviced daily. The hotel has just added an in-house self service LAUNDROMAT for use by hotel guests.

The hotel's recently refurbished lobby, is now equipped with a 24hr Internet Cafe service with reasonable prices. A refreshment centre for coffees and snacks is also available.

Long Island Lounge Bar is a comfortable, and welcoming bar resembling a modern living room, with purple leather sofas and boxed coffee tables. The lounge bar is open daily from six pm serving a la carte food.

Days Inn Hotel is located in the heart of Sliema, within 5 minutes walking distance to the school, tucked away in a pleasant side street, very close to the main shopping and entertainment area, the seafront, and departure point for buses and cruises. The hotel has been fully renovated in 1999 having 100 rooms.
